Three days of Motorcycle Magic

On stage at the London Motorcycle Show

The London Motorcycle show? I could simply say, ‘Brilliant fun’ and nothing else but I have a couple of lines more, to say why.

There were some absolutely fascinating motorcycles on show – brand new from BMW, Honda, Triumph, Suzuki, Royal Enfield and more – classic gold from Sammy Miller’s fantastic museum – and those on show in the Bonham’s Auction area, just to start off with.

The mix of equipment companies such as Oxford Products Ltd, R&G (Cheers to Jack Taylor for his help with my presentation! Laughs gathered!), Shad and more was spot on. I even put my hand in my pocket!

In amongst the mix were tour companies, and some fine motorcycle training companies such at Phoenix Motorcycle Training Ltd. And I could go on… A great mix.

Heads up. The show is smaller than it was 10 years ago. But there was real quality, and everyone I talked to had had a great day out. In part because though busy, they had time to talk to the exhibitors. They weren’t dashing from one stand to another trying to take too much in.

The key feedback from attendees to me was that the presentation stages made the show very special. Everything from road racing, to a fine mix of on stage guests with Henry Cole, to the Charley Boorman Adventure Base Camp stage which was run by that infectiously enthusiastic duo, Matt and Reece, who are better known as ‘The Sidecar Guys’. Do look them up. Cheers to Oxford Products for sponsoring the stage.

I had a ball book signing, presenting twice and being on stage on a couple of panels. The atmosphere was fun and friendly. Many experienced adv riders and overlanders in the audience, people fascinated with the possibilities of riding the world by motorcycle, and I loved that there were so many people actively planning to hit the road. They were there to brain pick! Nice one.

Thank you to everyone who stopped off with me to say hello and have a natter. It was great to have the chance to link up with you guys. A double thanks to everyone who bought books and t-shirts. Phew. What a show. Yep, brilliant fun.

Many congratulations to Motorcycle News and to Devitt Insurance Services Ltd for making such a fun weekend happen.

Last but very much not least. Thank you very much to Nigel, Pete and Marshy, for their help with crewing my book stand during the show. Couldn’t ask for a better team. Very well travelled, top blokes in their own right!
