The BMW Motorcycle Club in the UK very kindly agreed to review The Moment Collectors ASIA, even though the riders are on a wide range of motorcycle marques, not BMW motorcycles alone.
When it arrived, I of course started to read with fingers crossed that it was going to be a ‘Thumbs up’ review. The first lines had me worried. Here’s the full review – you’ll see why I ended up smiling.
‘When I first picked up this book, I had a misconception regarding its purpose. I broadly expected to read about different motorcycles and the various trials and tribulations they would have, in short, I expected a book about motorcycles travelling around Asia. As a biker, I was at first slightly disappointed with the lack of ‘bike talk’, however as I read through each astonishing story, I found myself getting immersed in the experiences of these amazing people and their journeys.
As with all books, some of these journeys resonate more than others, I have several favourites and have surprisingly taken some insights and thoughts regarding some of the locations and the people that I would certainly want to experience first-hand. The passion for riding and travelling to remote and beautiful places is conveyed throughout the book and it encourages your own imagination to run riot and makes you think about undertaking you own Journeys, though admittedly not to the same extremes as some of the authors. I found that it makes you consider all the things you are missing and if you just have the courage to break the monotony that is life, there are some wonderful experiences waiting round the corner.
A book that opens your mind to possibilities, even if fleeting, is a wonderful thing.
One thing that stands out above all others with this book is the culture and the people. The experiences of the travellers and the people they met strangely restores your faith in humanity making you realise that we have become misguided with by stereotypes. One quote, that stands out in the book is “Face to Face, people are people”, and that’s what this book really does well, it gets you invested in the lives of people and makes you realise maybe the world isn’t so bad after all.’
Yep, big smiles here. If you haven’t got a copy yet, do get one direct from us of course, or from your local book shop, or from Amazon and also from Nook.
