What a wonderful day Sunday October 20th is.
‘The Moment Collectors ASIA’. Twenty Travellers’ Tales from the Most Diverse Continent on Earth, is released!
Many congratulations to all the authors, the designers and artist, the editor and proofreaders, and the IT guys. What a fantastic book you guys have made happen. It’s been a privilege to work with you all over the last year and a bit.
The contributing 20 travelling authors are:
Chris Donaldson, Anatoly Chernyavskiy, Maria Schumacher, Jacqui Furneaux, Heather Ellis, Jeffrey Franz, Simon McCarthy, Heike Fania, Fern Hume, Sheonagh Ravensdale, Sherri Jo Wilkins, rtw Paul Stewart, Candida Louis, Simon Roberts, Anita Yusof, Carl Parker, Zebb Penmann, Leigh Wilkins, Heather Lea and yours truly.
What’s it all about?
The authors were asked to write a chapter from their travels across Asia where a moment or a series of moments had them thinking ‘Yes! This is exactly why I’m out here riding and exploring’.
What a stunningly beautiful, challenging, surprising, at times peaceful, almost always vibrant continent this is. It’s a land of extremes. You’ll find everything from the gnarliest of situations, to jaw dropping scenery ,to side splitting laughter in the pages of this book.
The first 3 reviews published all say that the guys have done a fantastic job!

Reviews so far:
‘This is a great book that’s highly entertaining. Some stories had me laughing, some had me in awe, but all were inspiring. It had more variety than I expected, and it whet my appetite for more adventures from these writers. I hope that you will love it, too.’
ADVMoto Magazine
‘You’ll feel like you’re a part of the adventure, and making it more so are beautifully hand drawn sketches and watercolours by Simon Roberts that accompany each chapter.
If you are thinking of travelling Asia, needn’t be by motorcycle, or would just like some inspiration, then join Sam Manicom and his friends, the moment collectors, as they explore this wonderful continent.’
Traverse Magazine
‘I really like the first-person voices of the stories. This makes it intimate, like you are invited along on rides. Nearly every contributor is slightly mad (British English for “crazy, but in a good way”)—is this true of all adventure riders? Humor pervades many of the tales, some with outright guffaw-inducing moments.
Not everyone can or wants to write a whole book, so the anthologies compiled by Sam are a wonderful way for us to hear from adventurers we might otherwise miss. ’
Exploring Overland – Exploration Quarterly Magazine
‘Very different perspectives from very different people riding very different bikes. If you want a suggestion for a Christmas present for a motorcyclists, maybe this will fit the bill…’
